EVANGELIZATION

In his encyclical On Evangelization in the Modern World, Pope Paul VI said, “Evangelization is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity. She exists in order to evangelize, that is to say, in order to preach and teach, to be the channel of the gift of grace, to reconcile sinners with God, and to perpetuate Christ’s sacrifice in the Mass, which is the memorial of his death and glorious Resurrection.” This is the mission of all member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church: to practice their faith with enthusiasm, to invite others to share their faith, and to transform society. Evangelization is at the heart of our individual and communal call to bear witness to Christ.   Twenty years after the encyclical’s call to evangelization in this modern era, and two thousand years after Christ’s mandate to “Go, make disciples of all nations”(Matt 28:19), the Church today reaffirms the fact that evangelization is fundamental to any parish response to the call of God. It is essential of the pastoral mission at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

True Beauty Revealed - A High School Study

In a culture that promotes selfishness and ingratitude, this ENDOW high school study group provides a much needed forum for girls to grow in understanding of their God-given dignity and vocation as women.  The study curriculum allows teens (14-18) to share their unique life experiences and embark on a journey to discover the truth about authentic feminism.  Through this study and prayer, the young women will inevitably grow in knowledge and virtue, both of which will help them better love and serve others.

Along with scripture and catechetical knowledge, the teens will learn practical tips for applying the church’s teachings to their daily lives.  Within the eight chapters, participants will discuss the nature of femininity and discover what it means to be created as women. They will have the opportunity to reflect on their personal development and character formation as well as examine their relationships with peers and the opposite sex.  If you are interested in the “True Beauty Revealed” program or have questions, please contact Sarah Pierce at 985-693-3123.  Informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 1st, for 6:30pm, in the Saltillo Room across from the Holy Rosary school cafeteria.

ENDOW stands for the Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women. It is a Catholic educational organization that brings women together to discover their God-given dignity and to understand their role in humanizing and transforming society.  ENDOW utilizes small study groups, conferences and retreats to cultivate faith, fellowship and formation.  ENDOW study groups are led by facilitators and meet weekly or bi-weekly over an eight-to-ten week period. No homework is required. Please contact Sarah Pierce  or Nickole Chiasson  for scheduled dates and times.  For more information visit www.EndowOnline.com

In an effort to reach younger women, Endow has created a special Girl Genius program for young women, ages 10-13.  The Girl Genius study helps girls better understand their nature, dignity and special role in society.

Besides incorporating Scripture and catechesis in the lessons, the Girl Genius Program also includes group activities, “girl-time reflections,” and journaling sessions that focus on issues affecting middle school girls today (confronting culture/media; teen image/self-esteem, etc). Every lesson also highlights a young female saint who lived a life of holiness, despite the pressures and temptations of the world around her.
